Growing up in an active, outdoorsy family, I was raised with a love for the outdoors. When buying my own home, parks and activities for the family are very important to me! Recently, I had the opportunity to visit three stunning San Antonio-Area State Parks.

Guadelupe River State Park

Guadalupe River State Park

The first one that we went to check out was Guadalupe River State Park, located off of HWY 46 in between Boerne and Bulverde. This park is spectacular. My husband and I walked down to the river, which was so clear you could see the fish swimming below the water! It was just so beautiful. In addition, there are a lot of interactive challenges spread throughout the park for children. During this summer season, many people flock to this river for tubing with the family! I highly recommend this activity.

Pedernales Falls State Park

Pedernales Falls State Park

The next park, is one of my absolute favorites, so much so that I actually got married here! Pedernals Falls State Park is located North HWY 281 off of HWY 290. This park boasts it's beautiful falls, located along the most popular trail in the park. They're only about a 5-10minute hike from the parking lot. At the falls, visitors are encouraged to explore the area, go fishing, and get as close to the multiple falls as you want! The park has more to offer than this one trail though. In the front country, there are great hiking and mountain biking trails with beautiful turquoise springs along the way! This park really has something for everyone.

Government Canyon State Park

Governement Canyon State Park

Government Canyon State Park offers a significant contrast to the last two parks. This park attracts kiddos from all of San Antonio to check out their dinosaur tracks! They are located about two miles from the parking lot, so pack lots of water and sunscreen if you plan to take the hike during the summer. In the back country you will find beautiful sights and miles of hiking trails! In the front country, you are aloud to bring pets and it's great for those new to mountain biking, with smooth trails! This is definitely one of the most interesting parks in San Antonio, located only 5-10 minutes from the Alamo Ranch area.

When looking for your new home, don't forget to check-out the parks and activities the area has to offer! Community is so important. Check out my page to search available homes now, and contact me with any questions about my free services for home-buyers!
